Biography

Children Come First is an organization that I Jessica Whitaker started to help educate, encourage, and elevate our youth. I have self published my book for the purpose of helping to educate the community about learning disabilities. My goal is to bring about change in the communities. I am a pre - K teacher at a private school. I have been teaching preschool for over seven years. I love teaching children, because they all or so eager to learn. We as educators need to provide an atmosphere, which adapts to children learning habits. Our children are suffering each day, because they have limited places to go for help and funds are low. I am a daughter,sister,aunt,and an educator. I am finally getting my life back, because of all the pain I have endured over the pass years. Learning Disabilities almost took my life away and now it was going after my 10 year old nephew. I am a positive person that believes in our children and its society.

Speech Description

In my speech I talk about the different forms of Learning Disabilities such as Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia, Dysgraphia, ADD and, ADHA. I will also speak on statics that surrounds or nation education system for example: 33% of children in California will not finish high school. It is estimated that more than $2 billion is spent each year on students who repeat a grade because they have reading problems. 46% of American adults cannot understand the label on their prescription medicine.In my speech I am bringing awareness to everyone to see how it is important to help our children help themselves and provide resources to them as well.
