Youth Groups
Youth groups that complete community service and service learning projects are encouraged to join or form a coalition. This includes but is not limited to the following:
- National Honor Society, Key Clubs, Builders Clubs, Student Congress, International Baccalaureate Program, and other related school clubs at high schools and junior high schools
- Faith-based youth groups
- Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Campfire, and 4H organizations
- Non-profit youth groups such as, YMCA Teen Leadership, Boys and Girls Clubs' Keystone and teen groups
- Other youth groups chartered by an organization
Youth Group responsibilities are:
- Join a coalition in your area or start a coalition if appropriate.
- Determine your coalition's theme for GYSD
- Develop and conduct a project that supports their coalition theme
- Register for GYSD prior to the March 24th deadline
- By March 27th, assemble and deliver your group’s nomination package for the Sheris Growe Youth Service Leader of the Year (required). You may also submit your poster board display for the Best Service Project of the Year Photo-Essay contest (optional).
- Work on service project during GYSD (Sat. Apr. 24, 2010). However, you may start the project the week prior to the event and finish it the week after GYSD.
- Each youth group’s adult leader will also submit by May 7th an after action report on the number of adults and youth that participated, their demographics, hours of service, and other information required by Youth Service America. Click here to submit the report.
