He shares the tools needed to live a boundless and motivated life with students, parents, educators and corporate America. David believes everyone can achieve his or her goals if given the effective strategies and tactics that will allow them to maintain the confidence that is necessary in achieving success. Why did David become a motivational Speaker? Simple. He was given a gift to challenge people to give up limits and build self confidence. His dedication to offering hope and changing lives just like the coach that inspired him as a young adult is unwavering. (Rest with the angels Coach Buddy Rodgers) David M. Johnson has encountered numerous circumstances that have helped develop his resolute mentality towards overcoming boundaries. His unyielding desire to persevere began with him encouraging his middle school teachers to take an extra step to help him advance from seventh grade to the ninth grade. This led him to try out for his varsity high school football team as the youngest freshman in the county. After achieving his goal of starting as a freshman, he established a program for his personal success. Six months into his program he became the youngest player to become captain of the wrestling and football team. David continued his educational endeavor and was granted a full athletic scholarship during his senior year of high school to Troy State University. He managed to find strength and positivity when faced with the possibility of losing his leg after a traumatizing football injury. After persevering through that challenge, he was again faced with yet another dramatic experience when he had to reevaluate his life after suffering a life threatening injury to his neck in front of 70,000 people. After four major surgeries David decided to reassess his time and goals. He went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude with a double major in English and Criminal Justice. But after having gone through such difficulties, he was determined to share the importance of motivation and confidence with everyone he speaks to and coaches throughout his life, especially our youth. Whatever trials may emerge he knew and understood that unexpected things happen that can create a sense of self-doubt and ultimately hamper one's ability to achieve in school and in life if not countered with positive thinking. After college David became a national top salesman and later joined a fortune 500 company, quickly moving up the corporate ladder. While maintaining his corporate career, David simultaneously fulfilled his dedication to youth by sharing his program with numerous students who were at risk of bullying or delinquency. As a result, these students learned how to better understand and take responsibility for the way they thought, the way they behaved, and ultimately, what they achieved. During this time David was also hired by various corporations to speak on topics such as retention, communication skills and leadership. In the past decade, David has mentored and hosted seminars for over a half million teens and at risk youth across the United States on how to be true to themselves and live out their dreams. He teaches actionable lessons on how to succeed at the game of life by making good choices, staying in school, being a role model and helping others see their own potential. David has also offered guidance to parents and other youth leaders by giving presentations on how to effectively grab the attention of the teens in their lives. His messages are strong, real and full of conviction, much like his life story.Speech Titles
Beyond Swagg (Relinquishing perceived limitations and develop a boundless mentality)Speech Description
The formal or “old school” definition of swagger as defined by dictionary.com is to walk or strut with a defiant or insolent air. Over time the term “swagg” or “swagger” has become modernized to have a more positive connotation and everyone seems to have their own definition. Within the many meanings I’ve come across, there are two aspects that remain consistent, style and confidence. These two components seem to be the basis of what “swagger” is. With that being said, this is not a guide on how to get “swagg.” I’m not going to tell you how you should dress, or what things you should and shouldn’t do to have “swagg”. You already have it. Everyone does. “Swagg” is not reserved for specific people. Its concept does not have standards or rules that you have to follow. We each have a personal style preference and while your appearance is important, your level of “swagg” is dependent on how much confidence you have in yourself. The front door of going beyond “swagg” is to understand just how important your self-confidence is. This talk goes beyond “swagg.” This book bring an understanding and action steps to teenage evolution, the three R’s (Respecting self, Respecting others, and Responsibility), Effective communication skills, goal setting, and perseverance. Success is wrapped up in consistency and ‘Beyond Swagg’ unwraps it with intensity, interaction, and a taste of optimism.References
